Project Description

The Buttonville master plan capitalizes on the closing of the Buttonville airport in Markham, Ontario on the northeast side of Toronto, transforming 200 acres of undeveloped land into a spectacular new sustainable mixed-use destination. Plans center on a vibrant mixed-use core, with open plazas and broad promenades connecting to the project’s iconic feature: a 14-acre lake complete with a distinctive sculptural element rising in the center. The lakefront is the scene of a bustling waterfront commercial district, with restaurants, pavilions and waterside retail arcing around the water.
