With great anticipation, the first phase of Bintaro Jaya Xchange – a lively, mixed-use project outside the city of Jakarta–recently had its grand opening.
As planners, design architects, and environmental graphic designers, DDG created a sustainable, eco-friendly city center design for Bintaro Jaya Xchange. Two majestic towers flank the grand entrance to the project, creating an iconic focal point and serving as the foundation for a pedestrian sky bridge that spans the adjacent highway.
The project itself is lined with outdoor cafes and restaurants, performance stages, water features, shops, and expansive open-air parks and gathering spaces. Smaller pathways branch off to other areas, including the waterfront, hotel and convention center, outdoor extreme sports arena and open-air concert venue, business center, and residential components.
Bintaro Jaya Xchange is one of several projects in and around Jakarta designed by DDG. Earlier this year, we were awarded the design commission for the expansion of Jakarta’s highly successful Grand Metropolitan mall. (DDG was responsible for architecture and environmental graphics for the original Grand Metropolitan mall, which opened in December 2013.) DDG is also designing the Metropolitan Mall, a new destination shopping mall in Cileungsi, Bogor, southeast of Jakarta.
