Summer is quickly coming to an end here on the east coast and, with the change of weather, our softball season has closed out as well. Every year DDG participates in an architectural softball league during the summer months once a week after work. At each pre-scheduled game we meet a different Baltimore architecture firm on the field for a friendly softball challenge. Since Baltimore is appropriately often called Smalltimore by locals, one can never predict who they may already know on the opposing team. Employees, both new and old, as well as friends, are all welcome to come out and join our team.
The team is a mixture of players who have never played softball, some who didn’t know what softball was, and a few seasoned players to show everyone the ropes. Our team is always a little different, always changing up a bit depending on who can make it each week. It’s also a great reflection of the fresh faces of DDG since this has become a great opportunity for new employees to build friendships outside of work and get a sense of our community.
As our first time team coach, Adam Chisholm, stated at the close of the season, we came a long way from the beginning of this season and started to become a competitive force in our league. To us, as echoed in our work during the day, it’s about the lasting experiences that are created. To be able to come away with a couple wins and a few close games is great. However, to know that everyone had a memorable good time is a bigger reason for pride.
