MAPIC this year can be best described by those in the retail property industry as dynamic, busy and impressive. The level of excitement and commitment in the market is evident in the number of stands and attendees present. With over 8,500+ participants our industry is proving it has room for growth.
As always, MAPIC delivers an insightful measure of the European market pulse as well as regions in the Middle East and Russia. The number of Central and Eastern European exhibitors this year has greatly increased. Things were energized and full of activity everywhere we turned, from the open reception to the business lounge to the exhibit show floor. DDG team members were busy reconnecting with our international colleagues while building new relationships and sharing our own most recent experiences in the market with Akasya and Akbati to name just a few.
We were also pleased to see the focus on the consumer experience was front and center as a trend at a number of MAPIC hosted sessions. From exploring the importance of combining digital technology with retail to blending leisure with retail, this year highlighted the ever-growing need for mixing culture with shopping centers to create multi-use retail experiences.
We were happy to be part of the retail property industry’s international gathering at MAPIC2012 and are already looking forward to next year in Cannes.
