We’re excited to announce that DDG’s latest project as iPic Theaters’ Architect of Record – iPic Theaters at Pike & Rose in Rockville, MD – recently had its grand opening.
The 11th iPic Theater nationwide (with a dozen more in the immediate pipeline) and the major entertainment anchor in the recently renovated Pike & Rose mixed-use project, the new iPic location boasts eight separate auditoriums with a total seating capacity of 782. That translates into less than 100 people in each theater, which means less crowding, less noise, and less distractions (not to mention reserved seating, which can be arranged online or on-site at guest services).
The seats themselves come in two styles: premium leather seats, which are 33-inches across with an individual table; or reclining “premium plus” seats, which include a pillow and blanket, unlimited popcorn, and an anti-glare touchscreen picture-menu that can be used to order food during a film. The food comes from a concept called iPic Express, with a menu of upscale-casual comforts by award-winning chef Sherry Yard. Yard also runs the adjoining City Perch restaurant.
As with other iPic locations, iPic Theaters at Pike & Rose features contemporary, high-end materials such as polished wood and stone, sleek finishes, and high-end light fixtures which reinforce the atmosphere of comfortable and casual elegance. The team here at DDG, led by our own Jim Andreone, handled all planning, construction drawings, and contracts, as well as administration throughout construction.
