Senior Project Designer and Principal, George Black, attended the recent Grand Opening of Fontanar Centro Comercial in Chia, Colombia, a suburb city to Bogotá. On 14 October 2015, the scheduled events held concurrently throughout the mall gave proof that the grand spaces we designed were well situated within the retail plan and were ideal for hosting a wide variety and scale of future promotions and events.
Upon entering the mall, the grand scale of the interior was readily evident. The owner’s desire to terrace all retail levels has not only led to improved sight-lines throughout but, as a result, has provided spaces that can comfortably accommodate large events. A rich blend of premium interior finishes, unique interior forms, along with associated colored lighting effects create a contemporary interior ambiance with visual interest and energy. The ceiling patterns and designs in particular were noted by numerous attendees – affirming the design effort.
In addition to designing the interior and exterior landscape, we designed the project’s signage and created the brand identity. The project’s environmental graphics express a strong project identity and accommodating wayfinding components. Brand name recognition was reinforced through unique and well-developed tenant and project signage.
The selection of tenants, both open and soon to be open, represent the very best of national offerings. Fontanar Centro Comercial is poised to be the new benchmark center in Colombia for commercial retailing.
