We are proud to announce that our master plan design for the 171-hectare Eskinoz Valley Recreation Park in Bahçeşehir, Istanbul, Turkey has won an international design competition. Selected from among a slate of international firms, our design employs creative solutions, site sensitive planning and sustainable strategies for a challenging 4.8 kilometer linear site along an existing valley. Drawing upon DDG’s decades of experience in architecture, landscape architecture and urban design, the master plan incorporates best practices of ecologically-sensitive landscape design enhancing diverse recreational needs and aspirations of a fast growing district within Istanbul.
The site is surrounded by the Bahçeşehir Cultural Center and numerous high density residential communities. Our master plan envisions strong public realm with walking paths, bike trails, pedestrian bridges, nature gardens, cafes and restaurants, playgrounds, multiple recreation and sports fields, a concert pavilion, botanical gardens and a pond and restored stream. Several districts of the existing valley have been re-designed to work in harmony and create a unique visitor and resident-friendly park.
The park is organized into four districts that will allow myriad activities to function together. Each district has been identified based on its unique character, proximity and design strategy. Design of the park brings residential communities together and provides community living room for all to come, play, gather and relax. The design is characterized by choreography of movement and alternating vistas and experiences. Distinctive paving, planting, furnishing, lighting and social spaces will create an authentic and memorable experience.
The Eskinoz Valley Recreation Project offers something for all ages. Influenced by world-class parks such as Central Park of New York, Hyde Park of London and Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, this new park will be a new center piece for civic, recreational and cultural life in Istanbul.
