DDG actively seeks out educational opportunities for our team members. Since our projects are located all over the world, most of our staff is not able to visit these sites. Conveniently, on our campus and right next to us is the next phase of Brewers Hill, a unique mixed use development in full construction mode. We jumped at the opportunity to tour the urban revitalization site which offers a full learning experience in observing the planning/design principles come to life. DDG team members were met by the developer and construction manager for a guided tour to discuss the obstacles this and other projects are faced with when working with a historic preservation site. Our team was exposed to the overall details and possibilities that exist in rehabilitation/conversion of these types of artifacts into urban living environments. The DDG tour group was not only able to earn IDP credits required by the U.S. architectural registration board, but they also had the opportunity to ask in depth questions on systems and general construction methods.
We look forward to continuing visits next door and to other sites in the local Baltimore/Washington area. For more photos of the Brewers Hill tour, please visit our Facebook page.
