Baltimore-based design firm DDG has named Partner Saad Irshaid as the Design Director. The announcement was made by Ahsin Rasheed, Chairman, CEO and President of DDG.
As Design Director for DDG Irshaid will oversee and supervise the firm’s design teams and creative design process for all projects across the globe.
Serving as Partner with DDG since 2003, Irshaid has played an instrumental role and has had creative influence over all aspects of the design, planning and architecture of numerous international retail, resort/hotel, master planning, mixed-use and residential projects. Successful integration of disciplines, including design and space planning, has been evident and enduring throughout his 25-year history with DDG.
Whether developing master plans or conceptual designs for retail and mixed-use projects or themed destinations, Irshaid uses his evocative drawings, renderings and models to impart unique character and breathe life into an idea. His body of work with DDG reflects a design career based on a lifelong appreciation for artistry and craft. Significant projects include: Istinye Park in Istanbul, Turkey; Zonk’izizwe in Midrand, South Africa; and Vizcaya at Jinqiao in Shanghai, China.
Irshaid joined DDG in 1987 upon earning his Master of Architecture degree at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
“A creative spirit that has inspired a lifelong passion for creating and designing has characterized Saad’s influential and innovative tenure at DDG,” Rasheed said. “His father once told him, ‘The world needs architects more than it needs artists.’ To his credit, Saad happens to be both.”
