DDG’s design team began the mixed-use lifestyle center in 2014 with The Marcus Corporation and subsequently worked with Chicago-based Bradford Real Estate Companies to complete the design.
Located at the busy intersection of I-94 and the Barker Road Interchange in Brookfield, Wisconsin, just 10 minutes outside of Milwaukee, The Corners of Brookfield is ideally positioned to deliver something special to southeast Wisconsin: a true regional mixed-use destination. This 470,000-square-foot open-air project is anchored by a Von Maur Department Store, and boasts upscale retail along with a dynamic range of restaurant and entertainment options. This combined with 244 residential units, help make The Corners a true live, work and play environment.
A large central urban park feature provides an ideal setting that goes beyond recreation: cultural events, community activities, concerts and holiday celebrations. Unusual site topography sets the stage for an inspired design solution: a one level below-grade parking deck with space for approximately 1,900 vehicles. Visitors will be able to park their cars and ascend directly up to the mixed-use pageantry and commercial energy of the streetscape above. A pedestrian-friendly layout of activated street grids is invigorated by sidewalk environments with landscaping, cafes and decorative lighting. Project avenues link to a network of public parks and adjacent green space; transforming pedestrian corridors into a series of linear park and plazas and reinforcing The Corners’ strong literal and figurative connections to the surrounding community.
DDG is proud to have been part the team that worked on this great project!
