One Charles Center
100 North Charles Street, 18th Floor
Baltimore, MD 21201
Located in the 22-story One Charles Center building designed by Mies van der Rohe, DDG’s new headquarters returns to the center of downtown Baltimore, 2 blocks from the company’s first US office which opened more than 40 years ago.
We were inspired by the desire to create a dynamic communal work environment that also emphasized DDG’s international perspective. The solution: an open-floor office layout encourages collaboration and communication. Surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows on all sides of the building, natural light infuses the design studio, creating an appealing, energy-filled ambiance, with stunning views of the Baltimore skyline.
The wall space at the building’s core is a vital space as the company’s primary display area for graphics and architectural renderings and design critique sessions. Several large planning tables between the work stations and pin-up walls provide valuable layout space for sample boards, model displays, work space and design discussions.
At the core of our studio space is our model making area. A creative space filled with tools, technology and talent that transforms a modest plan into a tactile, three-dimensional showpiece. Using both in-house industrial-sized laser for precision cuts and handcrafted techniques for a unique, detailed marketing and communications exhibit.
Small changes can create profound workflow advancements. Aisles between work stations were widened slightly to accommodate additional stand-up layout tables that encourage impromptu project collaborations among team members.
Most of all, you’ll see a focus on people: a space that comfortably welcome clients from around the US and the world, workspaces designed with creative inspiration in mind, and acknowledgement of the individuals whose talents serve our projects. From the moment we greet you, our offices celebrate and inspire the remarkable people behind DDG’s award-winning projects around the globe.
