Batam City Walk
Batam, Indonesia
Batam City Walk combines the bustling energy of a waterfront entertainment venue, options of an indoor center, vibrant activity of a mixed-use residential district, and efficient convenience of business environment into one cohesive development. Tucked into a lakeshore hillside, the topography of the site demands an innovative approach. The master plan incorporates multiple zones along changing elevations. Circular plazas and step-downs function as connectors, arrayed along a linking avenue running from the roadside above through the town square to the waterside piazza below. The linear framework gives way to the fluid and curving structural form of the indoor mall, which includes two anchors, food court, bookstore and extensive skylighting throughout. The mall cups the entertainment piazza, an outdoor plaza fronting onto a broad waterfront promenade.
