C'an Pedro
Deia, Spain
This renovation of this 80-year-old building capitalizes on a hillside location, ocean view and sublime setting in a centuries old village on the northern Majorcan coast. Traditional interior materials high-light this luxurious Mediterranean contemporary resort residence. Bright Mediterranean colors and luxury fabrics of the furnishings and window treatments are used to accent the neutral colors of the ornamental and structural stonework. The work transforms a single structure into two stone and wood buildings connected by a span of outdoor stairs. A 500-year-old wooden door reclaimed from a local antiquities dealer anchors the new aesthetic of comfortable permanence, reinforced with aged wooden beams and materials salvaged from local sources.
