Lujiazu 1885
Pudong, China
The graphics and signage component of Lujiazui– 1885 reflects the project’s dynamic blend of contemporary imagery, historic influences and traditional forms. The combination of old and new extends from the materials–which exhibit layers of masonry, metal and glass that echo the chronological evolution of the architecture–to the project identity signage, which juxtaposes 21st-Century lighting and signage technology with natural elements such as fountains and green space. The project’s large project identity sign, for example, is affixed to a curving brick feature that encloses three cascading pools and a small fountain. The project logo incorporates the iconic Noble House silhouette, and marble-capped masonry site markers ring the site at intervals to add interest and further define the space.
